There are six barangays of Candon namely Darapidap, Talogtog, Caterman, Tamurong 1st and 2nd and Villarica found at the western part of the town. Years before 1975 the priest of Candon Fr. Simeon Peralta went to these six barangays to say mass every Sunday and other holidays. Fr, Simeon Peralta is very patient enough to say mass in these barangays. The priest made a home visit to the families and found out that many of them were not married in the Catholic Church and some of their children were not baptized. The priest convinced them through evangelization. The existing religious organization helped the priest in evangelizing the people. At that time the Apostleship of Prayer helped the priest in their devotions like enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, block rosary during October and May other organizations come up the Adoration Nucturna, legion of Mary and CWL.

On May 24, 1975 there was a move to establish a parish on this six barangays and Talogtog is blessed to be the center of the parish. It was named Sta. Maria Auxilladora Parish because there is a man with a family name of Abaya at Candon who donated the Statue of Sta. Maria Auxilladora. The church is built with coconut tree parts and we call it "Dambanang Niog" After three years a strong typhoon came and it was destroyed and only the statue of Mary is left. The church is renovated and it is a concrete. Another priest came and the renovation continued. At the time of Fr. Alex Malcaba 1995 the Archdiocesan celebration of Christ the King is celebrated in this parish. At this time the pastoral leaders went on After the successive seminars on basic ecclesial community building. celebration of Christ the King a formation team was organized and we go on organizing what we call SISA (Simbaan Sangakarrubaan) or domestic church, now we have already 27 SISA. We have our PPC for pastoral programs, PFC for financial support of the parish, Manarawidwid of every SISA and different commissions to make and execute the parish pastoral programs in order to attain our vision and mission.
